Google is adding aerial views to 100 landmarks found in its Maps application.
The aerial views will provide an overhead look at landmarks in cities such as London, New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, and Barcelona, according to Google.
The Silicon Valley-based company said the aerial views are a first step toward launching a new immersive view to Google Maps.
Immersive view will include indoor views and information such as traffic and weather layered over various maps.
The technology giant plans to begin rolling out the new immersive view in Los Angeles, London, New York, San Francisco, and Tokyo later this year.
In addition to aerial views, Google is bringing a few other new features to its Maps application. These include enhancements to cycling routes that include weather details and information on road conditions.
Users will also get notifications when someone who has shared their location arrives at or leaves a particular location.
The new aerial views and location sharing notifications are now being rolled out on iOS and Android devices, says Google. The updated cycling route information is expected to launch in coming weeks.
The stock of Google parent company Alphabet (GOOGL) is down 28% this year and currently trading at $105.02 U.S. per share.
