Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has introduced a new Ryzen 7000 desktop processor that it claims can boost personal computer speeds by 29%.

AMD said its powerful new Ryzen 7000 chip utilizes 3D V-Cache technology that should help improve processing speeds for gamers, video editors, and graphic designers, among others.

The new processors go on sale September 27 and are the newest line of chips from AMD since its Ryzen 5000 was introduced in 2020.

The Ryzen 7000 processor is also expected to use 62% less power than the previous Ryzen 5000 line of chips.

Year-to-date, AMD’s stock is down 41% and trading at $88.49 U.S. per share.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSM), which builds the AMD chips, is using a newer five nanometer technology that’s faster and more energy efficient, helping to push the top speed of the chips to a peak of 5.7GHz.

AMD has also benefited from a “chiplet” design approach that packages multiple smaller processing elements into a single, larger processor.

The Silicon Valley-based company has said that it will use chiplets built with Taiwan Semiconductor’s five nanometer technology for its next generation RDNA3 graphics processor.
